Battling Bed Bugs: How To Rid Yourself Of This Awful Pest

If you have ever noticed that you have itchy red bites that are all in a line, then you may very well have bed bug bites. Bed bug bites resemble mosquito bites, but are often in a line and do not itch quite as bad. It is a sick feeling finding out that you have a bed but problem, and you need to act as quickly as possible. If you wait or delay there is a very good chance that the bed bugs spread to other rooms. Here are a few different ways that you can kill bed bugs.

Diatomaceous Earth

Another very effective way to kill those pesky bed bugs is by using diatomaceous earth. These are little siliceous shells that are from micron diameter algae. These shells have very sharp corners and are absolutely tiny even when considering a bed bug. The diatomaceous earth can puncture the exoskeleton of bed bugs and cause them to dehydrate and die. Put the diatomaceous earth all over the infested bed and other garments. Wait for a few days for the diatomaceous earth to take affect and then wash your clothes outside to get the algae off your clothes, and then place them through the wash. This effectively kills bed bugs and makes moving the linens through the home less of a risk. 

The Dryer

One of the very best ways to kill bed bugs is found in the laundry room. You will first want to find all garments or linens that you feel are infected and then place them in a plastic garbage bag. Seal the garbage bag as tight as possible so the bed bugs are not able to escape. Place the garments and linens into the wash and wash with high heat. However, the real bed bug killer is the dryer. Be sure when you dry the clothes that you dry on high heat for at least thirty minutes.

If you notice that the bed bugs are spreading through your home, then it is time to get a handle on these little pests and call a professional technician.
